descriptions of the term:

Definition

Definition. Content optimised for AI retrieval: self-contained units of meaning, a precise heading hierarchy and semantic HTML, supplemented by metadata such as entities, language, publication date, source references and stable URLs. The goal is that a single paragraph stays understandable and quotable even in isolation.

Why it matters. Retrieval does not read the whole page but an excerpt, often a single paragraph. If that paragraph is not written to stand on its own, it gets quoted incorrectly or incompletely.

Related. AI Retrieval, Structured Content, Semantic HTML, Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)
